Afropunk Festival Atlanta

Essence Festival of Culture a Virtual Experience for 2021
New Orleans June 25-27 & July 2-4, 2021
For the past 25 years Essence without a doubt is one of the top black music festivals.  Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Miguel And More Headlined the 2018 Essence Festival. Loni Love, Missy Elliott, Mary J Blige, H.E.R. & RBRM were just some of the performers in 2019. In 2021 the Essence Festival of Culture will be strictly virtual. It will be streaming on Streaming on Essencestudios.com. In 2022 Essence should be in person again and New Orleans is the best place to visit.

Miami Haitian Compas Festival
Mana Wynwood, Miami

In honor of May 18th 1803, creation of the Haitian blue and red flag, the Haitian Compas Festival in Miami was born. It has been ranked among the Best in Live Music Entertainment events by Billboard Magazine. The festival highlights different genres of Haitian music including Hip Hop, Konpa Direk, Nouvel Generasyon, Kreyol and more.  Attended annually by over 25,000 people.  Past performers include Harmonik, Tabou, AJAKOUT, Nu Look, Kai, Klass, ADA, DJ FMA, Gabel, T-VICE and more. HCF presents a Flag Day 3 day weekend event series in South Florida May 14th – 16th, 2021. Events on Friday and Sunday night at the Hollywood Live Restaurant & Lounge in Hollywood Florida and Saturday night events at Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale.

Afro Nation Festival
July 1-3rd, 2021 Praia da Rocha, Portugal
The world’s biggest Afrobeats festival. Afro Nation is a Portuguese Afrobeats, hip-hop, dancehall, bashment and R&B festival held each summer on the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach, just south of Portimão. After having to postpone 2020’s edition to July 2021, Afro Nation is raring to go again as it returns to the sunny shores of Portugal for another weekend in the company of some of urban music’s biggest artists. Afro Nation’s esteemed 2021 lineup will feature sets from the likes of Chris Brown, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Skepta, Davido, Beenie Man, Popcaan and many more.

Curlfest 2021
Be a part of the World’s Largest natural beauty festival which happens in July 2021. CURLFEST New York happens every year in July at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. It is truely a celebration of everything about African American beauty. The festival usually runs from 12 pm to 7 pm and a ticket is required to attend but weekend combo tickets are also sold.

Reggae SumFest 2021

Sumfest has earned a reputation as the Caribbean’s premier music festival, showcasing Jamaica’s indigenous music, as well as other popular global genres of music. A week of events held in Montego Bay, Jamaica during the 3rd week in July every year. It features the best in reggae and dancehall music over 2 main festival nights and 5 lead up events.  Its organizers intended for Reggae Sumfest to be a testament to Jamaica’s indelible impact on music in international genres like R&B, hip-hop, soka, and reggaeton. Today, the event has no problem attracting elite performers and tens of thousands of attendees and from all over the world. Past performers include Beyonce, Usher, Mary J. The Breakaway Music Festival highlights EDM, indie, pop and hip-hop music. The Breakaway Music Festival kicks-off in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Belknap Park on August 27-28 and then makes stops in Columbus, Ohio September 3-4 at the Historic Crew Stadium, and Charlotte, North Carolina October 1-2 at the zMAX Dragway located at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Broccoli Fest is considered the largest festival in the US for young people of color.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
October 8-17, 2021
This will be the 52nd year for this festival.  Performers and guests alike come from all over the world to be a part of this great event. Jazz and Dixieland are the focal points, but many different kinds of music are performed. At the Jazz Fest site, there are about 10 stages and show areas and the included admission ticket allows the guest to roam between each venue at their own pace on an open-seating basis. The New Orleans Fairgrounds site is a short distance from the French Quarter.  Past performers included Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, LL Cool J featuring DJ Z-Trip, Khalid, Smokey Robinson,  Sting and Aerosmith.  The musical lineup is usually announced and tickets go on sale near the first of the year. The annual Houston Black Heritage Festival is a Texas-sized African-American cultural celebration that takes place in the heart of Downtown.Grammy award winner Monica will perform as well as Blushhh Music, Brian Jack, Endurance, DeeSmuve and H.I.S.D. The event also emphasizes empowerment and features highly-regarded speakers and discussions on topics like education, health, wellness and economic literacy.
