Coachella 2018

Coachella is a yearly music and arts festival held in Indio, California. The lineup changes each year and started in 1993 with Pearl Jam as the main performer. Coachella will be held April 13-15 and April 20-22, 2018. Here’s more information about the performers and what it’s like to attend Coachella.

The Performers
Thousands of people are expected to be in attendance this year to see some of these popular performers. They include:

April 13 and 20: The Weeknd, SZA, Vince Staples, Alison Wonderland, Black Coffee, Deorro

April 14 and 21: Beyonce, Haim, Marian Hill, Benjamin Booker, Angel Olsen, Fleet Foxes

April 15 and 22: Eminem, Portugal, Odesza, A Perfect Circle, French Montana, Vance Joy

What To Expect
Those who have never been to Coachella often think it’s filled with hippies who camp out for days. While there is a campground on the polo field that’s adjacent to where the venue is held, it is completely separate from the festival. With only 17,000 campers as compared to the amount of people that attend the event; 250,000, you can see that most people who are in attendance don’t camp. One of the key components to Coachella besides the music, is the artwork. During the event there will be a number of large art installations displayed throughout the venue. This will include work from both new artists to those that are more established in the art world. Many of these pieces are quite thought provoking. Another aspect of the event is reducing the carbon footprint left by it. Recycling is greatly encouraged. Any individual that collects ten empty water bottles will receive one new full water bottle for free. There are also DJ booths that are operated by the use of solar power and seesaws that are used to help attendees charge their mobile phones. One thing that those who’ve never attended a Coachella should be prepared for is the interesting apparel that’s sometimes worn. It’s not uncommon to see individuals wearing brightly colored clothes and odd combinations of patterns as well as body paint. If this is simply not your thing then don’t worry as there will be plenty of people wearing shorts and t-shirts too! The key is to just wear whatever makes you comfortable. You will find that the attendees just want to have a good time and overall the event has a vibe that’s one of high energy and good times.
