New Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Disney Cruise Line newest ship, the Disney Wish, appears to be on schedule. The Disney Wish will be the fifth ship to join the Disney fleet.

The Disney Wish will feature, among other innovations and experiences a “Beauty and the Beast” inspired atrium. Rapunzel will be painted on the stern, because her story represents a desire to explore the world. Sailings on the Wish should start in January of 2022. She will be larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy with 1250 spacious staterooms.

The ship is being built at the Meyer Werft Ship Yard in Germany.

Disney Lighthouse Point (their 2nd private island,) will be a new tropical paradise, focused on natural preservation drawing attention to the natural beauty of the island. This is not a replica of a Bahamian town, not a pirate fantasy, but a dreamlike landscape of adventure by the sea where art and nature combine with Disney magic. Inspiration will be drawn from artists, musicians, sculptors and storytellers across New Providence and Eleuthera.

“Disney Cruise Line has committed to develop less than 20 percent of the property; employ sustainable building practices, including an open-trestle pier that eliminates the need to dredge a ship channel; establish environmental monitoring programs during construction and operation; and donate more than 190 acres of privately owned land to the Bahamaian Government, among other commitments.”

Completion of the island could begin at the end of 2020, with completion in late 2022 or 2023. Of course delays are possible depending on COVID-19.

Since the maiden voyage of the Disney Magic, people were offered the chance to travel the world with the combination of romantic ambiance of the golden age of ocean liners and Disney magic. The Disney “Wish” and Lighthouse Point will continue to build on the magic.
