The second ship of Holland America’s Pinnacle Class, the Nieuw Statendam cruise ship is slated to set sail in November 2018. It won’t be the largest ship in the line, but is similar to the popular Koningsdam cruise ship. Oprah Winfrey was named the godmother of this new ship.

What’s Onboard
The Nieuw Statendam will have a maximum passenger capacity of 2,650. Just like the Koningsdam, for dining options, guests can enjoy Chef Rudi Sadmins restaurant, Sel de Mer brasserie, the Pinnacle Grille, An Evening at Le Cirque, Tamarind or Canaletto. The Lido Pool deck offers two tiers and has a movie screen. Dance the night away at B.B. King’s Blues Club or enjoy a show. Take a cooking class in the culinary center.
Cabins And Staterooms
There will be 1,339 cabins onboard the Nieuw Statendam. These include 280 interior, ocean view, balcony, spa balcony, family and solo cabins as well as over 100 different suites. They range from 127 square feet for solo cabins to a massive 1,290 square feet for the Pinnacle Suite. All of these cabin choices allow for passengers to choose a stateroom that really will meet their needs. Those that are staying in the Neptune or Pinnacle suites will have exclusive access to the Neptune lounge that features a large television, comfortable seating, a library, tables to work at as well as refreshments. Passengers that are staying in either a Vista or Signature suite will be able to enjoy select amenities like large bath towels, a pillow menu, fresh flowers, concierge service and a mini bar. One of the biggest issues that families have when sailing together is only having one bathroom in their cabin. For those staying in a family stateroom their cabin will feature two bathrooms. It will also have a living room and additional closet space to try to accommodate each person staying in the room. Travelers that want to focus on wellness while on their cruise have several options including staying in a Spa Suite. These cabins are located by the Greenhouse Spa & Salon and also come with yoga mats that they can use during their time on the ship.
Itinerary
For the 2018 and 2019 seasons, the Nieuw Statendam will be sailing in the Caribbean. These cruises will set sail from Fort Lauderdale. Passengers will be able to choose from both shorter and longer cruises.
Bookings are already taking place for this ship. Despite the amount of cabins and suites onboard, this ship may sell out. This is especially true for those that want to stay in either Pinnacle Suite or one of the Neptune Suites.
