Is Holiday Travel Right For You

Is Holiday Travel Right For YouIn theory, holiday travel may seem like something that you want to do. However, if you really think about it, traveling during this time of year may not be worth the hassle. As great as it is to see family and friends, it might be better putting it off until a different time of year. Here’s how to decide whether or not holiday travel is right for you.

Overall Cost
One of the most expensive times of year to travel is around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. Airfare goes up quite a bit during this time of year as well as prices for hotel rooms. In many instances, you can easily save hundreds of dollars by choosing to travel during other times of the year. If cost is a concern, but you still want to spend time with your family, monitor airfare and don’t wait until the very last minute to travel.  Check out this blog on Factors to Consider when Booking your holiday flight.  If you are flexible, the week after Thanksgiving is one of the cheapest times of the year to take a Caribbean cruise.

Excessive Amounts Of Travelers
Holiday travel can bring with it excessive amounts of travelers. What this means is that you will have to deal with bumping into people at airports, limited rental car availability and possibly inconvenient travel times. If you don’t mind dealing with all of this, then holiday travel may not be such a bad thing. However, if you don’t like to deal with a lot of people or if you have very specific travel needs, holiday travel probably isn’t right for you. Some travelers do think it’s worth the extra hassle in order to see those that they love around the holidays.

Other People’s Agendas
Holiday travel often isn’t like a regular vacation. You will be dealing with other people’s agendas. Your time is not your own and you will have to succumb to what other people want you to do when they want you to do it. So, if you want to go sightseeing around the city you are visiting, it may not be an option if you plan on visiting a lot of family members. Because traveling around the holidays can be quite costly, you may feel as if you spent a lot of money only to not be able to fit in everything that you wanted to do. However, being able to spend a lot of time with those that you love may be worth it, especially if you don’t get to see them very often.

If it’s the only time you have, just make sure and give yourself a lot of extra time and be very patient. Make sure you have things to keep you busy such as your cell phone, tablet or even a portable gaming system.  Have chargers with you in your carry on bag.  Best Iphone Games for Airplane Mode, How to Listen to Music Offline and Playing Nintendo Switch on an Airplane are all helpful blogs to help you stay busy on a long travel day.
