Protecting Your Hair & Skin from Cold Weather

Both the cold outdoor weather and indoor heaters can take a toll on your hair and skin during the winter months. Here are 4 things you can do to help you get through the winter with minimal damage.

  1.  Stay hydrated.  You may not be as thirsty when it’s cold out, but it’s important to have at least 80 ounces of water per day.
  2.  Take showers with cooler water – Don’t strip your hair of moisture by taking long, hot showers.  Use luke warm water and try to limit your time to 5 to 10 minutes.
  3.  Take out Winter Fashions – pull our your favorite scarves, hats & gloves to have protection against wind and snow. It can be frustrating to have to work on your hair to get cute again once indoors, but it’s worth the trouble. 4.
  4. Consider changing your favorite products during the winter. Go for heavier, thick creams and hydrate and lock in moisture. Use a deep conditioner at least once a week to help counter the effects of winter. Always have Vaseline or chap stick with you, as well as hand cream or lotion.
