Jamaica is filled with some of the best beaches in the world. Despite the fact that this Caribbean island is filled with resorts, you can find beaches that aren’t as busy, with some of them even off of the beaten path. These are some of the best beaches in Jamaica to go to.
Runaway Bay Beach
Located on the northern coast of Jamaica in Runaway Bay, this beach has a rather interesting history. It’s past is filled with shipwrecks, pirates and slaves that escaped captivity. The beaches themselves ranges from golden to pure white sand, dependent on what part of the beach you are on. Onsite there is Cardiff Hall Estate that includes luxury hotels, villas and golf courses. However, there is still plenty of beach available to enjoy.
Doctors Cave Beach In Montego Bay
This beach is a favorite among both locals and tourists. One of the interesting things about it is that there are no vendors allowed and footballs and radios are banned as well. Even though there is a fee to get into this beach, many are willing to pay it as it has nice changing rooms and plenty of chairs, umbrellas and snorkel equipment to rent. The water is also pretty nice as temperatures range from about 78 to 84 degrees.
Bay Beach In Ochos Rios
There’s a lot of activity almost anytime of year at this beach. It’s not surprising that many people want to enjoy it as it’s absolutely beautiful with clear water and white sand. One of the gems of this beach is that there is a waterfall that goes directly into the sea. It’s important to note that there are numerous sea urchins in the water so you may want to wear water shoes to protect your feet. There is a small fee required to gain access to this beach, but it is well worth it.
Long Bay In Negril
If you want to escape the crowds, head over this this beach. Many of the beachgoers here are locals so it’s a good place to meet those that are familiar with Jamaica. There are hammocks to relax in and an onsite restaurant to grab a bite to eat.
Cornwall Beach In Montego Bay
Located on Jamaica’s western coast, the water here is very gentle. This makes for a great beach to visit for those with children. It tends to be one of the less busier beaches on the island. There are also plenty of amenities here as well as eateries nearby.
