December is a great time to travel. If you don’t plan on visiting family and friends and are just looking for somewhere to go that allows you to get away for a bit, there are numerous destinations to choose from. This is where to go in December.
Patagonia
December is actually part of Patagonia’s summer so you will be able to enjoy some warm weather while you are here. Temperatures tend to only be in the 70s during the day. There is also around 16 hours of daylight during this time of year. This country is remarkable with its breathtaking mountains and clear glacial lakes. Patagonia is a great destination for those that like to hike or just enjoy being outdoors. Cerro Fitz Roy, in particular, is a popular attraction for tourists. The Laguna de Los Tres hike is frequently by visitors as there is a lake that has a glacier that spills right into it.
Anchorage
If you don’t want to leave the United States, but still want to go on a phenomenal vacation, head over to Anchorage. During this time of year there isn’t much daylight which means there are plenty of opportunities to see the northern lights. There are also numerous events that take occur in Anchorage in December. The Christmas Towne festival is a beloved event that takes place on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of December. Held November 30-December 9, the Anchorage International Film Festival offers attendees the chance to see screenings of independent films from many different countries.
Germany
If you are looking for an unforgettable destination that has a holiday vibe, head over to Germany. There are quite a few Christmas markets located throughout the entire country. The Dresden Striezelmarkt is the oldest one in Germany and is full of things to buy, see and eat. Stuttgart is also an interesting place to go. There are quite a few museums located here, with many of them being dedicated to luxury cars like Porsche and Mercedes Benz.
Caribbean
For those that want a quick getaway, without a lot of work, they should consider going on a Caribbean cruise. Places like Montego Bay, Cozumel or Belize City offer a lot of different things for tourists to do. They can visit historical sites, relax on the beach or enjoy a tour at their destination. You can often find a good deal on a Caribbean cruise in the month of December as well.
