Changing your scenery for just a bit might be just what you need in order to feel rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world. You can relax, recharge and have a new appreciation for life. Whether it’s gaining a new perspective on life by learning about a new culture, taking time to enjoy a sunset or walk the shores of a beach or taking a wellness retreat, travel has shown to nourish the soul.

The following places are some beautiful destinations to go to for those that want to nourish their soul.

Kyoto, Japan

If you would love to nourish your soul by visiting stone gardens, seeing beautiful foliage and touring UNESCO World Heritage sites, head over to Kyoto. For over 1,000 years it has been the capital of Japan and is a popular destination for tourists. The Kiyomizu-dera temple is humbling to see and does offer some picturesque views from its veranda. Arashiyama features a bamboo forest as well as more than 170 monkeys that live in the park. Gion is in the geisha district of Kyoto. Here you can enjoy an upscale meal at one of the many restaurants, see a Kyomai dance at Gion Corner or enjoy one of the seasonal festivals at the Yasaka Shrine.

Istanbul, Turkey

This city is a place like no other. It allows you to see one of the most unique parts of the world with its focus on culture, food and religion. While here you can see incredible attractions like the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace or the Basilica Cistern. If you want to relax for a bit, hop on the ferry and enjoy lunch. You will be transported down the Bosphorus while you listen to commentary along the way.

Cape Town, South Africa

From wine tasting to penguin watching, no two days need be the same in Cape Town.  This destination is best for those that like to nourish their soul through an adventure. You will be amazed at all the rich history and traditions here. Cape of Good Hope is perfect for those that are interested in seeing some amazing views of the area. Table Mountain National Park is filled with numerous opportunities to hike and bike. Boulders Beach is the perfect place to go to enjoy the water and the free-roaming African penguins.  Kirstenbosch Gardens is home to wide expanses of fynbos, the natural landscape that only the Cape Town region’s unique climate supports. Punctuated with cultivated gardens — some with themes, like fragrant flowers or medicinal plants — perfect for relaxing strolls and hiking trails that thread through the surrounding wilderness, Kirstenbosch has been beloved by locals and visitors for generations.

Grindavik, Iceland

It’s no surprise that Iceland is filled with a lot of unique things to do. Grindavik, in particular, is a great place to go to nourish your soul. The Blue Lagoon is filled geothermal seawater that you can relax in. You can cleanse your body and will feel energized afterwards. Other popular activities include going on cave hikes, touring a volcano or heading over to the Saltfisksetur Islands to enjoy a round of golf.

Phuket, Thailand

Beautiful architecture and amazing beaches are what Phuket is known for.  Ultra luxurious resorts and spa properties are scattered throughout the island.  Visit the Chinese Shrine located on Phang Nga Road.  Explore Wat Tam Suwan Kuha – a cave temple in the National Park. Have lunch at a lakeside village of sea nomads.
